32 | WAC Magazine | wac.net e road to improved wellness and better living is full of obstacles. e goal of WAC fitness professionals is to help you overcome those roadblocks and stay on track. As you do, your goals will change and so will your methods for achieving them. One of the best ways to get started on a new fitness routine at the WAC is by meeting with Maureen, who serves as the Club's fitness concierge. Maureen: For many people, the No. 1 barrier between them and an active lifestyle is intimidation. e gym can be a scary place. Our fitness concierge service helps break down that wall. e service is complimentary and gives you a chance to tell us about your goals and challenges. One of the main things we do is build relationships with members and let them know they have a support structure here. We also talk about what has worked for you in the past, what hasn't, and where you want to go. George works closely with WAC personal trainers and fitness in- structors and oen points members to low-impact Get Fit classes or high-intensity Xcelerate classes, depending on your comfort zone. George: Get Fit and Xcelerate really cover the two ends of the fitness spectrum. A lot of members enjoy starting with Get Fit classes because they can get up to speed quickly. You don't need to be in perfect shape to attend Xcelerate, but you should have a desire to get there. No matter who you are, Xcelerate is designed to push you beyond your comfort zone. en there's all our other classes, like yoga, group cycling, TRX suspension, Barre, Pilates, boxing, and aqua boot camp. We have more than 100 fitness classes a week. We add new ones based on member demand and what we see happening in the industry. at's part of what's great about the WAC—our fitness classes keep up with you. We're always evolving, educating, and exposing ourselves to new ideas. I also really encourage members to get a personal trainer. ere's no better way to get started, learn the machines, develop a strategy that's right for you, and set yourself up for success. Rather than think of fitness as an 'extra,' consider it a lifestyle. " " E M I L Y R A S I N S K I u Maureen Eggers and George Sommerrock talk fitness.
