Goodwill's new Job Training and Education Center on Dearborn Avenue is certified LEED Gold? What's more, the adjacent store in the Central District has a collection of vintage fashions dating back to the 1860s. Join us for a behind-the- scenes tour of the largest Goodwill in the world, where an average of 10,000 items are sorted every day. Learn about the pro- cessing of donations from start to finish— including the production area, online sales, the retail store, and the warehouse. Then, explore the green technology incorporated into the Job Training and Education Center and administrative offices. This new three-story building has classrooms and computer labs, a WorkSource drop-in center, and a student lounge. Proceeds from store sales directly fund free job training and education programs for individuals facing barriers to employment. The programs benefited more than 8,500 people last year. After the tour, browse and shop the retail store at your own pace. You're encouraged to bring any gently used items for donation. Optional lunch prior to the tour is a few blocks away at the Cheeky Café, known for comfort food with an Asian fusion twist. 11:30 am lunch, 1–2:30 pm tour; $20 lunch and tour, $8 tour only; cancel by November 12 N E W Starbucks Corporate Headquarters Tour & Tasting Wednesday, January 21, 2015 A few blocks from the Washington Athletic Club back in 1971, a small coffee shop called Starbucks opened in Pike Place Market.
