N E W Opera Night at Ristorante Picolinos Thursday, February 19, 2015 Warm up your winter with this perfect pairing of light opera and Italian dinner at Ristorante Picolinos in Ballard. Artists from Public Opera will perform a variety of operatic medleys as you bask in Old World ambiance while dining on authentic Italian cuisine. Our package includes a private social in Picolinos' heated Winter Garden with hors d'oeuvres and Prosecco (dry Italian sparkling wine), followed by pre- ferred seating at shared tables in the main salon for a three-course dinner. Start with a salad of seasonal mixed greens and then select a classic pasta entrée. For dessert, enjoy platters of house-made European sweets capped by a refreshing limoncello cordial. Interspersed throughout the courses, become entranced by popular arias, duets, and fun Italian songs. This specially arranged evening of beautiful music and delightful dinner is not to be missed. 6 pm; $60; dinner wine and cocktails available on an individual-pay basis; cancel by February 11 N E W Curling 101 Saturday, February 21 You don't need to know how to throw the rock or sweep the ice to enjoy this Olympic sport. Known for being part reality show and part comedy club, the Seattle International Comedy Competition is back at the WAC for night one of finals week. The WAC will host America's biggest touring comedy festival in the Crystal Ballroom for a night of the best in standup comedy. With comedians coming from as far as Japan and as close as down the street right here in Seattle, the Top Five Comedians will battle it out for the night's top score and an opportunity for top honors and a shot at cash and prizes. The pressure is on as the comedians take the stage for 20-minute sets of their best material in hopes of leaving all in the audience in fits of laughter. What is a night without food? So you are invited to partake in a pasta buffet served with a variety of sauces and fixings including sausage, chicken or salmon alongside a variety of salads and fruits. Don't worry, dessert won't be forgotten; a variety of mini desserts will be served. This isn't your average comedy competition—it's bigger and better. And it's bound to be hilarious!
