DID YOU KNOW? ✪ Janet is a student pursuing a career in nursing. ✪ She recently served on a jury for the first time. ✪ She has more than 30 first cousins. DID YOU KNOW? ✪ Heidi loves to travel and has been to many countries. Her favorite cultural and historic place to visit is Spain. ✪ She grew up in Orange County, California. ✪ She previously worked for a printing company and managed a family restaurant in Salt Lake City. Teamworks JOSEPH KALVIN BANQUET MANAGER Before coming to the WAC in 2006, Joseph (Joe) Kalvin worked his way up from houseman to assistant banquet manager at Embassy Suites in Bellevue. He then worked as manager of the Harbor Steps Conference Center in downtown Seattle. That background primed him for his position as Banquet Manager at the WAC. Joe oversees a large team of banquet servers and housemen and all events booked through Catering. The WAC events calendar dictates Joe's schedule. When it's busy, Joe puts in long days overseeing weddings, conferences, family events, corporate meetings, and holiday meals. "He works tirelessly and puts in more hours than we can count to make sure all of our members receive premier service," Director of Catering Rick Cardona says. Joe points out he couldn't do it without the WAC's team of housemen, servers, and Catering salespeople. "They are supportive, and that's the greatest pleasure," he says. Vice President Food & Beverage Peter Christian says Joe is always willing to do whatever is needed to make sure an event succeeds and members and guests are happy. During the last few months, Peter says, he's seen Joe step it up even more. "Joe has really grown in his confidence and completeness as a manager," Peter says. DID YOU KNOW? ✪ Joe loves the outdoors, especially fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. ✪ In high school, he was an amateur boxer. ✪ He is a longtime resident of the Eastside.
