Approximately one-third of our team members work behind the scenes at the Club. Did you know that there used to be a parking garage inside the WAC? Meet Bill Rawe, the WAC's own expert, egineer, and 55-year legend—who started working at the Club in 1957. Bill will take you behind the scenes to places you never knew existed. You will see the WAC carpentry, paint and engineer shops, the 5th Floor pump room for the Helene Madison Pool, along with the infamous penthouse. Along the way, you'll also meet WAC Pastry Chef Lori Masaki, Executive Chef Eric Floyd, Vice President Food & Beverage Peter Christian, Hotel Operations Manager Mike West, and Executive Housekeeper Eva Vasquez. Afterward, join us in the Elliott Bay Suite for a hosted glass of wine and light appetizers. 5:30–7:30 pm; $24; cancel by April 15 For the Love of Hats Thursday, June 19 Saxophone players and artists have the cool factor, while Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has the chic factor. Dapper and stylish, protective or silly, a hat can add that final fabulous flair. Since 1895, four generations of Goorin hat makers have been crafting and selling different kinds of hats, keeping craftsmanship, style and function at the essence of their business model. Join us for a night of jazz music and cocktails at Goorin Bros. Hat Shop in Pike Place Market. You'll learn about the history of hats and receive guidance from expert hat fitters to discover what style is right for your face and head shape. You'll also learn some fun basics of hat etiquette, such as how to tip your hat. Goorin Bros. Little Shop of Horrors at ACT Theatre Through June 15 is co-production of e 5th Avenue eatre and ACT is a delightfully demented comedy of hapless lovers, and a most unusual plant. e campy musical is based on the 1960s cult film, and blends doo-wop, rock, and Motown into a hilarious send-up of B-movie horror flicks. Seymour is a florist's clerk, who buys and nourishes a Venus flytrap-like plant, which he names after his beloved co-worker Audrey. But, things start to get out of hand when the plant develops an insatiable appetite. e memorable score includes the title song plus, "Somewhere N E W The Boys in the Boat with Dr. Daniel James Brown Wednesday, June 25 Rowing made its Olympic debut at the 1900 Summer Olympic Games. Just nine games later, farm boys from the University of Washington took the gold in an unlikely victory over the German team in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
