Since opening in 1930, the Washington Athletic Club has been a cornerstone of Seattle's downtown community. The WAC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to preserving and enhancing our historic Clubhouse, proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Every dollar raised by the Foundation goes directly to preserving, restoring, and enhancing our iconic building. All proceeds from the Gatsby Gala will go to the WAC Foundation, including a planned renovation of the 6th Floor Pool, one of the Club's most historic and beloved spaces. e WAC Foundation is having a busy year, also helping fund construction of a new Pilates studio on the 8th Floor and new yoga space on the 4th Floor. "We're very grateful to the Foundation for helping these spaces come to reality," President & CEO Suzana Sakay says. "We're also looking forward to some significant im- provements in the pool as well as other projects around the Clubhouse." "e private parties were a huge hit last year," Director of Club Events Mary Ellen Jilek says. Last year's party raised nearly a quarter-million dollars for the Foundation. "Our members continue to show huge generosity," Suzana says. "We hope even more members will help us grow the Foundation and create lasting impact on Clubhouse improve- ments."
