WINTER / SPRING 2024 29 club life foundation founders "Once you get connected to the WAC's community, it's like a cycle," Tammy says. "You make more and more connections and, before you know it, you're introducing people to the Club yourself." For Tammy, that included Hahns, whom she met and started dating in 2006. "It was interesting that she was also from the Midwest," Hahns recalls. "Although she never lets me hear the end of it when her Wisconsin Badgers are beating my Minnesota Gophers." Hahns moved to Seattle in 1991 while working in finance for Microso. "While I joined the WAC because of Tammy, it's a classic case of discovering so much more than you bargained for," Hahns says. "e people I've met here and the friendships I've made are everything to me." For Tammy, the Club's fitness and well- ness programs played a critical part in her battle with cancer 10 years ago. Routine massage therapy in the Spa, swimming in Helene Madison Pool, and training in Coed Fitness strongly contributed to her mental and physical health during that time, she says. But the most important part may have been the support she re- ceived from WAC team members and her network of friends at the Club. "e friendship and support of WAC staff and friends kept me encouraged in the battle, and they always lent an ear when I needed it," Tammy says. "Some of my long-term and most treasured WAC friendships were formed during that time." Nowadays, Tammy remains in good health and good spirits. Her time at the WAC oen centers around the Club's community and her work with the WAC Foundation, of which she is president. "Protecting this won- derful asset we have is something that will allow new and old members alike to really get the most of their memberships." Tammy and Hahns live in Magno- lia with their dogs, Evie and Pumpkin. Tammy leads the human resources department of Prescryptive Health as Chief People Officer, and Hahns is semi-retired. Although it was once Tam- my who used the WAC most frequently, Hahns has taken over that role. With years of Clubhouse memories, community involvement, and personal connections made, becoming WAC Foun- dation Founders was a natural decision. "e WAC helped us grow our roots," Tammy says. "It's our primary connec- tion to Seattle. It's up to us as members to take care of it."
