It was also a way for them to pay homage to the place— and community—that welcomed the pair of Midwest natives with open arms and helped their Seattle roots thrive. Tammy, who graduated with a finance and accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin, first accepted a job in San Francisco before relocating to Seattle in 1993. While looking for a gym, she discovered the WAC. But it wasn't the Club's fitness facilities, storied history, or reciprocal club network that attracted Tammy during her initial Clubhouse tour. It was the towels! "I remember passing the towel rack in the women's locker room and asking the woman who was leading my tour what the towel allotment is," Tammy laughs. "When she told me I could use as many as I need, I put my hand on the stack and thought, 'Oh wow, I have to join!'" at initial impression was just the beginning for Tammy, who dove head- first into the world of the WAC. She was soon volunteering on member leadership committees and through the years sat on nearly all of them. Her service and com- mitment led her to the WAC Board of Governors and eventually to becoming 2015–2016 WAC Chairman of the Board.
