24 WAC Magazine | wac.net living fit wac golf Continued from page 23 "We go until the good weather's gone," Darin says, noting that the socials are ideal for new golfers and longtime duffers alike. "Regardless of skill level, it's a great way to meet other players and enjoy the game in a no-pressure envi- ronment," he says. "Members come for the golf and stay for the mingling." WAC Golf Instructor Gilbert Quit- long oen attends the socials, providing on-course tips. Gilbert teaches golf lessons in the WAC Simulator and at Interbay. "My favorite part about these socials are the friendships I've made through coaching members on their swing and helping them navigate the course," Gil- bert says. e WAC Simulator has quickly become a member favorite, offering the opportunity to tee off at some of the world's best courses virtually while also providing options for video playback of your swing. Gilbert and certified Titleist Performance Institute medical practi- tioner Dr. Ryan Gutz, who offers WAC members Golf Fitness Performance Evaluations, use that information to cor- rect everything from swing to stance. "Having Gilbert and Ryan bring their talents to WAC golfers is a great oppor- tunity for members to understand the mechanics of their swing and improve their overall game," Chief Operating Officer Wayne Milner says. Ryan's Golf Fitness Performance Evaluations include a 16-point head-to-toe movement break- down, strength and power assessment, swing speed evaluation, and recorded video. Members may also opt for a golf-centric personal training program to help get in shape for the season. "Golf injuries are more common than you might think because of the repeti- tive twisting and bending the sport calls for," Personal Training Supervisor and golf fitness specialist Michelle Payne says. "Golf training is designed to target and mitigate common conditions and issues specific to golfers." Back on the green, the Golf Club has other events in the works at local courses, including Jefferson Park and West Seattle, Darin says, emphasizing that these events aren't just for Golf Club members but any WAC member looking to play and have a good time. "Our patio game is strong," he laughs. "Aer the course, we kick back and enjoy the rest of the evening. Even if you're new to the sport, it's nice to just get together over the game and enjoy a summer evening on the green. at's what it's about!"
