e annual Morris Trophy Awards luncheon returns to the
Crystal Ballroom for its 43rd year at noon on ursday, Janu-
ary 19. e Morris Trophy is presented annually at the WAC to
the best offensive and defensive linemen in the Pac-12.
e University of Southern California swept this year's
award. Both winners—senior offensive lineman Andrew Vor-
hees and junior defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu—are slated
to be at the awards ceremony. Vorhees was a third team Asso-
ciated Press All-American selection in 2021 and has started 44
games in his college career. Tuipulotu entered his junior season
as one of the top defensive linemen in the country. USC went
11-2 on the season and entered the Cotton Bowl on January 2
ranked eighth nationally.
"Morris Trophy winners are the best of the best," says WAC
Athletic Programs Manager Darin Barr, who sits on the Morris
Trophy board of directors. "It's a thrill to get them to the WAC
every year to accept their awards and for our members to get a
chance to meet the athletes."
e Morris Trophy is unique in college football as it is vot-
ed on by the players. At the end of each season, offensive line
players from across the Pac-12 vote on who they think the best
defensive line player is, and vice versa. "ere's really nothing
else like this," Darin says.
is year's awards ceremony will feature seven-time NFL
Pro Bowler Alex Mack as keynote speaker. Mack won the Mor-
ris Trophy in 2007 and 2008 while playing for UC Berkeley. He
retired from the NFL in 2022 aer 13 seasons, for Cleveland,
Atlanta, and San Francisco.
