Doyle, donating to the Washington Athletic Club Foundation goes beyond her personal love for the Club. It's about honoring family roots that date to the Club's inception in 1930. "Our family history at the WAC began with my maternal grandfather, Carlton Daniel 'C.D.' Buckner's charter membership," Patty says. e lineage continued to her parents, R. Paul and Dorothy B. Doyle, who joined in 1945. Her mother was also a Life Member. Some of Patty's earliest Clubhouse memories include Father Daughter and Mother Daughter banquets, learning to swim in Helene Madison Pool at age 6, learning to ballroom dance during junior high school, and high school ski trips to Snoqualmie Pass with the WAC Ski School. She fondly recalls her dad coming to the WAC before work as an original member of the "Early Bird" group. He would play squash, swim, and sit in the sauna, enjoying friendly discus- sions with the guys.
