Club Programs committees | Family Matters | Reciprocal club Club Programs committees Family Matters Reciprocal club Club Life W A LT E R Z A M O J S K I , E M I L I O H U E R TA S , J O H N B A N G By Mendy Droke, Program Board Chair As I come to the end of my tenure as Chair of the Program Board, I reflect on the amazing work of committee members during this past year of transi- tions. e Club Programs team worked hard in 2021–2022 to get back to in-per- son events while also still offering re- mote and hybrid options. Overall, more than 2,000 members and guests partic- ipated in events planned and organized by our wonderful volunteers and team members. at's one of the things that makes the WAC so special—its ability to pivot and serve members in unique and creative ways despite circumstances. I joined the WAC in the late 1990s. At the time, our family lived on Bainbridge Island, and we visited the Club for events such as holiday meals. Aer we moved to Seattle, we jumped into Club Events in a whole new way! As I rejoined in-person events this past year, I realized how much I missed seeing WAC members and team mem- bers who were such a regular part of my pre-pandemic life. Speaking of staff, WAC Director of Club Events Mary Ellen Jilek and Event Coordinator Rob- inette Holt are masters at helping event planning committees organize activities for our members. My favorite event from this past year was Learning to Curl at the Granite Curling Club in North Seattle. anks again to all the committee members who dedicated their time and creativity to plan wonderful events this past year. To anyone who has never volunteered on an event planning com- mittee, take my word for it—you'll have a blast! —Mendy Droke served as 2021–2022 Program Board Chair.
