NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2020 25 club life member news Longtime WAC member Don Root recently received Puget Sound Business Journal's Middle Market Fast 50 Lifetime Achievement Award for his work as co- chairman of GMN, formerly known as GM Nameplate. A GMN employee since 1962, Don worked his way from account executive to ownership by growing the Seattle-based manufacturing company from a small startup to a family of seven plants in the U.S. and Asia. He now serves as co-chair with fellow WAC member and son Greg Root. Under Don's guidance, GMN became one of the first manufacturers to begin producing personal protective equipment when COVID-19 hit the Puget Sound region. "We opened the doors to innovation to switch to making things the world needed to protect each other," Don told Puget Sound Business Journal. A WAC member since 1969, Don says he cherishes his time at the WAC and has fond memories of his four sons learning to swim, take karate lessons, and play basketball at the Club. We are proud to count Don and his family as members! Recognizing Don Root All-Star honors Congratulations to WAC member Carl Lindgren on winning complimentary parking in the WAC Garage for one year. Carl was one of more than two dozen 2020 WAC Emerging All-Stars, that is, first- year members who also referred a new WAC member. Carl's name was drawn at random. We also want to recognize our 2020 Membership All-Stars, members who referred three or more new members during the past fiscal year: Rose Mitchell (double All-Star), Syesha omas, Timothy Leyh, Chris Pallis, Doug Seto, and Sidney Warsinske. ank you to all of our All- Stars for your commitment to strengthening WAC membership!
