Usually, this is a time of year when the pace quickens in downtown as people return to the bustle of the city aer a summer of other pleasures. is year, we're not quite sure what to expect. Surveys show that people are excited to travel, and activity is picking up at airlines and hotels. e WAC is open and offering most services, from hotel stays and dining to fitness and athletics as well as spa and wellness services. But everything still feels a lot different. Indoor dining rules require seating and capacity limits; fitness areas, group classes, the gym and pool have their own set of rules; and many WAC events are taking place in a virtual or hybrid format. I recently returned from a morning shootaround in the WAC gym with a couple of my senior basketball buddies. I've also played Pickleball, enjoyed a couple of haircuts, visited WAC fitness areas, and had lunch at Hagerty's. e reopening procedures the WAC has instituted make me feel safe. I hope you are also back at the Club enjoying the benefits of your WAC membership and our wonderful facility. Offline, I've played numerous rounds of golf with WAC friends, and our basketball-based book clubs continue to meet regularly, albeit virtually. Like many others, we recently read a book on racial equity that spawned great discussions. A fabulous group of WAC friends, trying to understand what's going on and be a part of the solution. Regretfully, there will be no Jubilee this year. We will, however, celebrate the Club's 90th anniversary (virtually with a "party in a box" for pickup) and enjoy great holiday meals (at Torchy's or for Club pickup). Most importantly, a COVID-19 vaccine appears to be on the horizon, and we can begin to look forward to more of the WAC activities we've all been missing.
