Remote learning center | Private offices at the Inn | Platinum Club | 90th anniversary party 8 WAC Magazine | wac.net A new WAC Remote Learning Center for children in kindergarten through fih grade is now operating in the Noble Room on the lobby level of the WAC Clubhouse. e center provides a safe and supportive environment for children taking part in virtual school and remote learning. "We're looking forward to giving kids the personal attention they need in a safe and supportive environment," says Shawn Bonney, who is overseeing the center. Shawn also manages WeeWACs, the Club's popular childcare facility. Students will also be encouraged to take regular phys- ical and mental breaks throughout the day—including options for using the 8th Floor gym and running track as well as socially distanced group activities. "So much of what kids are missing with remote school is that social interac- tion," Shawn says. "We're going to offer that in a multitude of ways while still being very careful about health and safety." Health requirement include daily temperature checks at drop-off as well as at intervals throughout the day, regular handwashing, and required social distancing and facial masks. Morning and aernoon snacks will be provided, and students will bring their own lunch. Grab-and-go lunch items are available via the Club Shop on the lobby level. All food must be nut-free. Supervision will be provided at a ratio of one instructor per eight students. e WAC Clubhouse maintains strong and reliable Wi-Fi service. Students need to bring their own laptop or tablet, head- phones, and all other school supplies. e center is open 7:30 am–4:30 pm on weekdays with the last pickup at 5 pm.
