How has your approach to racing evolved? last year i focused more on nutrition— what to eat during and leading up to a race. this helped me significantly. now 48 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | MAY 2013 my training is focused on quality workouts instead of quantity. How has the WAC Tri/Cycle Club influenced you? it's a great way to meet people with similar interests, no matter what level they're competing at. it's fun to see other people accomplish their goals and share experiences. Speaking of motivation, what else motivates you? training is a big stress-reliever for me. setting big goals lets me keep my sights on something to work toward. once my goal is calendared, it's all about getting out there and working toward it. ta r r y n l a m b e r t Four years ago, julie Glade began training for endurance races. today, the 32-year-old is president of the Wac tri/cycle club and recently placed seventh out of 112 women in her age group at ironman lake Placid. she is currently training for ironman coeur d'alene this june. she took a break to talk with us about racing, nutrition, and staying motivated.
