WAC® MAGAZINE MAY 2013 Volume 32, Number 5 ISSN 1091-7985 Letter from the President & CEO Chuck Nelson, President & Chief Executive Officer / cnelson@wac.net Season of change A s we move into the heart of the Seattle-area spring, in all its inconsistent and teasing glory, the WAC is fully participating in this season of transition. The Gateway Project is showing us glimpses of the new-look lobby. As various parts and phases reach completion, they give us a beautiful hint of what the finished product will look like. This update will fully showcase the friendly yet elegant history of the Club and stand as an entry our members can take pride in. There are also new things taking place in other areas of the building. We welcome new Vice President Food & Beverage Peter Christian. Peter will oversee all of our restaurant and banquet operations. He has a background of successful leadership in the club and retail restaurant worlds, and we are thrilled to have him join the WAC team. You'll learn more about Peter next month when he's profiled in the summer issue of WAC Magazine. The WAC will maintain its commitment to a strong wine program and our support of Wine Month and Taste Washington—and many other successes. We also anticipate continuing to update our menus, hours, and look and feel of dining at the Club as well as our happy hour offerings. We think you'll be excited to see the continuous change, and I hope you stop by often to keep up. Program offerings throughout the building will also change with the season. The full listings in the back of WAC Magazine provide descriptions and schedules for all we do here. There truly is something for everyone. As always, we'll look to keep supported and successful programs and to offer new activities to meet the needs and requests across our membership demographics. Summertime brings a shift in the schedules of many of our members, and the offerings at the Club will attempt to meet those changes. Summer camps, clinics, teen programs, and youth programs are all ramping up and ready to go. As the nation's premiere city athletic club, the WAC is not simply a place to be but also a place to belong. Your team members are excited to provide service you can be proud of. We often speak of our core values—leadership, excellence, integrity, service and sensitivity. We expect them to be lived throughout the Club every day by team members and members. It's our commitment that we be what we say we are. It's what makes the WAC and its members the best. See you at the Club.
