The event will kick off with a pot decorating activity that will give attendees a beautiful touch of spring to bring home. The WAC kitchen, meanwhile, will be buzzing as it puts together this special breakfast, starting with vanilla yogurt, Honeycomb cereal, and seasonal berries. The menu for daughters 12 and over and their moms includes asparagus dill Gruyère quiche, potato medley, and seasonal fruit. Menu for daughters under 12 includes breakfast sliders with scrambled eggs and sausage served with potatoes and fruit. The pièce de résistance is a honey trifle dessert for mothers and daughters 12 and over, and a delicious vanilla cupcake with honey buttercream for daughters under 12. Just For teens! Turn molten glass into your own piece of art in this hands-on evening in glassybaby's Madrona studio. Teens will work with blowpipes and learn about marvers, jacks and more. An expert will assist as you work liquified glass into your choice of cup, bowl, paperweight or float. We'll also nibble on some delicious snacks and drinks, tour the studio, and learn the magnanimous history of glassybaby. Class includes food, drinks, instruction, and your own unique piece of handblown glass (to be picked up at the WAC July 15). Meet at the Madrona studio, located at 3406 E. Union St. in Seattle. Event only for those ages 12–18. 5–7:30 pm; $100; cancel by July 1 you'll board a motor coach to Chehalis. During the 90-minute ride, watch Murder, She Wrote episodes to get thinking like a detective. Upon arrival at the railroad depot and museum, step back to another age as costumed staff welcome you aboard a fully restored 1920s dining car, complete with white linen tablecloths, full china, and impeccable waitstaff. Later, as you enjoy a four-course dinner, imagine yourself in the middle of an Agatha Christie murder mystery, with clues and entertainment provided along the way. If you choose to participate, make sure to write down all the clues you discover. Then match wits with other "detectives" as you put on your Sherlock Holmes hat and try to solve the crime. The vintage steam train winds 18 miles through the upper Chehalis River Valley, crossing wooden trestles and passing historic farms.
