22 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2016 Teamworks JULY EMILIO HUERTAS VALET AUGUST REBEKAH YEAZEL IT SUPPORT ASSOCIATE Rebekah was named Team Member of the Month just after her first anniversary of WAC employment. Before pursuing a career in information technology, Rebekah taught elementary school. Her move proved fortunate for the WAC as she is unfailingly positive and a pleasure to work with. "Rebekah's combination of courteousness and technical ability is unparalleled," IT Director Austin Kwak says. Rebekah plays a key role in the IT department, which keeps the Club's technology running smoothly, constantly improves systems throughout the building, and troubleshoots computer issues on the fly. Emilio joined the WAC in 2009 as a valet. Calm, cool, collected, and quick on his feet, Emilio warmly welcomes members and guests, provides valet parking services, assists with doors and luggage, relieves security for breaks, and helps in the WAC Garage. "Emilio willingly accepts additional responsibilities without hesitation," Parking Facility Manager Ed Hehman says. "He is well-respected by members, guests, and fellow team members for his customer-service skills." Emilio is known for his friendly and outgoing attitude and proactive approach. He enjoys the personal growth and confidence he has gained while working at the WAC. "Every day, I'm learning something new about people," Emilio says. SEPTEMBER JOE INMAN MEN'S FITNESS SUPERVISOR TEAM MEMBER OF THE MONTH An Athletics department employee since 2014, Joe began working at the WAC as a locker room and Sport Shop attendant. He is now a Men's Fitness Supervisor on the 5th Floor, where he maintains the facilities and ensures member satisfaction. Joe is known for his leadership, strong work ethic, and can-do attitude. Men's Fitness Manager Ben Stanton describes Joe as "a determined team member who represents the WAC as a whole." Joe's responsibilities include coaching new employees, giving tours of the athletic facilities, and filling in for others when necessary. "Whether he is in a tux for The Main Event or his swim trunks cleaning the Jacuzzi, his attitude remains the same," Ben says. "Joe is eager to accept new challenges and rises to the opportunities presented to him. He further reinforces to our rookies what it means to wear the WAC wings."
