The original glass-brick windows were replaced, illuminating the pool deck with extra sunlight. Over 200 of the bricks were donated to a children's museum to help build a model lighthouse. WAC MAGAZINE DEBUTS The very first WAC Magazine was published on October 1, 1985. Replacing WAC News, the newly minted WAC Magazine featured a full-color cover, 24 pages of Club information, and special content such as event reservation cards and athletic schedule pullouts. THE AGE OF TECHNOLOGY The Purchasing & Receiving Department began using computers for the first time. The new technology allowed for better inventory control, product tracking, and purchase of food and beverage items. INTRODUCING RICK STEVES Local travel guru Rick Steves hosted a monthly WAC Trek seminar about traveling through Europe. His talk addressed unconventional ways of travel and promoted a do-it-yourself attitude toward international adventure. J O H N B A N G ( 2 ) Boeing Classic on the horizon J O H N B A N G HERE COMES THE NAVY! For the past two years, WAC members have generously hosted U.S. Navy sailors during Seafair Fleet Week. This popular event returns on Wednesday, July 27. WAC members are invited to sign up to show a participating sailor around the city. Take them to dinner, travel to the top of the Space Needle, or otherwise introduce them to your favorite hangouts. Host a Sailor begins with a Clubhouse welcome reception. L A N E C A U D I L L The WAC's newest Life Member, Norman Jacox, received a special presentation of his gold membership card and 50-year member pin from WAC President & CEO Chuck Nelson in June.
