As a lifetime resident of the Seattle region, I've learned to take full advantage of outdoor activities during this time of year. The arrival of summer also triggers a reminder that the WAC fiscal year is nearly complete—on July 31 to be exact. As I reflect back on this past year of serving as your WAC Chairman, I feel blessed to have worked with such a talented and dedicated team of professionals. The human capital that serves the WAC—including the Board of Governors, executive staff, team members, and member volunteers—remains one of the Club's greatest assets. I was impressed with the true collaboration that took place this year between member leaders and team members on a number of important Club initiatives. I commend the WAC executive team, led by President & CEO Chuck Nelson, for leading the charge to explore bold new ideas and innovations. This is an important time within the WAC's history, as downtown Seattle is experiencing unprecedented growth and transformation. The growth of the technology sector has been the key driver behind this current cycle of economic expansion. When all the construction dust finally settles, downtown Seattle will be a very different place to work and live. This presents challenges and opportunities. It's crucial that the WAC adjusts to these changing times to remain relevant to the rapidly evolving demographic of downtown Seattle. This topic will continue to be addressed during the next year and beyond under the leadership of incoming Board of Governors Chairman Tammy Young. This summer will be especially meaningful for our region and for the WAC. The 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay will be the largest sporting event ever held in Washington state. The event is expected to provide a significant economic boost for our region and will showcase Western Washington on the world stage. The Inn at the WAC is completely sold out during the tournament, which should benefit other areas of the Club, especially Food & Beverage. I wish everyone continued prosperity and a wonderful summer! Thank you for a great year
