FAMILY ACTIVITIES 15th Annual GingerMania Sunday, November 16 Contact Club Programs for availability. Snow Bus to Leavenworth Lights Saturday, December 13 The Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival is a beloved Northwest tradition. We've partnered with Alki Tours to pro- vide comfortable coach transportation to get you there. Alki Tours will serve juice and pastries on the bus, play videos and music, and fill you in on what to do and see in Leavenworth. Upon arrival, enjoy shopping and lunch on your own. Then you can smell chestnuts roasting on an open fire, go on a holiday sleigh ride, or see carolers strolling through the streets before watching as the entire town is illuminated in one fell swoop at dusk. Pickup locations are Southcenter and Shoreline. Buses are not WAC exclusive and there will be no WAC escort. Arrival in Leavenworth is approximately 11 am. Departure is at 5:30 pm. Return times are dependent on traffic and weather. From/to Southcenter: 7:30 am–9 pm; From/to Shoreline: 8:30 am–8:30 pm; $69; cancel by November 1 N E W Santa Photos Saturday, December 13 Sunday, December 14 Skip the lines, cold and rain and join Santa at the WAC for an unforgettable reunion with the cheerful man himself. The Johnson Lobby Lounge will play host to a magical day with Old St. Nick. Write Santa a letter, color a picture, and then spend some time and have your photograph taken with the most popular fellow around. Reservations N E W Bullitt Center The World's Greenest Office Building Thursday, February 12 What do you call a building that can generate all of its power and water and gets its heat directly from earth? It's called the Bullitt Center, and it's located on Capitol Hill. This Living Building is in complete balance with nature, does not con- tribute any waste to the environment, and was built to last 250 years. Join us for a one-hour tour led by volunteer docents from the Center for Integrated Design, a collaboration of the University of Washington Integrated Design Lab and the Bullitt Foundation. The tour includes the building's mechanical and electrical rooms, the graywater and rainwater treatment systems, and its "irresistible" stairwell. You'll discover how the structure operates 80 percent more efficiently than average high-rise office buildings. Following the tour, join us at nearby Skillet Diner (optional). Select your choice of two edibles and one drinkable (happy hour cocktail, beer or wine) as we discuss what we've seen and learned. 3–4 pm tour, 4–5 pm social; $32 tour and social, $15 tour only; cancel by February 5 65th Annual Mother Son Banquet "Football Frenzy" Friday, November 21 "Fandemonium" is at an all-time high, and the WAC is bringing 12th Man fever to the 65th Annual Mother Son Banquet's "Football Frenzy." It's time to combine passion, competition, yummy food, and fun activities into a night out with your son. The evening will kick off with memory photos, a pregame social, and a delightfully delicious build-your-own-burger bar buffet served in the Crystal Ballroom. After you have stacked your burger with all the toppings you can dream of and capped your meal with a chocolate mousse and cookie parfait, the real fun will begin! The 8th Floor Gym will turn into "WAC Field" for a winner-take-all flag football game. The boys need coaches, right? So who better to coach these young men than Blitz from the Seattle Seahawks and Harry the Husky from the University of Washington? A football game is not complete without someone calling the play-by-play, so WAC CEO and former Huskies radio commentator Chuck Nelson will keep the cheering crowd on the running track entertained and rooting for their team. Guests with members are welcome. 5:30 pm memory photos, 6 pm dinner, 7 pm flag football; $46 per person, $35 sons under 12; cancel by November 11 J O H N B A N G L U K E R U TA N 36 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2014 CLUB PROGRAMS 206.464.3060 • clubprograms@wac.net
