Red Hot tips for enjoying Jubilee Make a day of it Leave work early for your room at the Inn at the WAC and your own Jubilee pre-party. The Inn crowd Shirley and Timothy Beard might be called part of the "Inn crowd"— those Jubilee attendees who make the WAC their home for the weekend. "We have a before-party in the room and an after-party in the room," Shirley says. The Beards make it a family affair, knowing that when it comes to Jubilee, guests are highly encouraged. "Jubilee is a time when it's just the adults in our family, and that's fun," Shirley says. Shirley and her husband joined the WAC six years ago and have attended almost every Jubilee since. Married for 43 years, they were high school sweethearts who went to prom together in the 1960s. For them, Jubilee is an occasion to reminisce. Shirley and her daughters, Jennifer and Emily, often get their nails done together before the big night. The morning after Jubilee, the grandkids show up for their weekly swimming lessons and a family breakfast. "Another fun part is running into people in Torchy's the next morning and reliving what you did," Shirley says. "It's sort of a slumber party, then a recap." If you're interested in joining the "Inn crowd," be sure to book right away. The Inn at the WAC fills up early for the big night every year, and a waiting list is kept. "A lot of people already know they want a room, so they're standing at the front desk on the night of Jubilee booking for next year," Melissa says. "People like to have their pre-socials in their rooms with their doors open and people going back and forth. It's just another aspect of the party."
