Jubilee. It's that time of year again. November and December at the WAC are about tradition, family and fun. Every year, I look forward to seeing the holiday decorations go up in the WAC Lobby. Twinkling lights, poinsettias, and decorated trees mean the festive season is upon us and the WAC is buzzing with fun things to do. We all should ramp up our workout routines now in anticipation of the great food and drink coming our way. For me, the highlight of our holiday season is Jubilee, the WAC's birthday party. It's our annual celebration of the Club's founding. It also allows us to put on our finest clothes and celebrate the season. Vice President Club Programs Melissa Borders and her talented team lead the Clubhouse's transformation every year for the big event. If you haven't attended Jubilee in the past, I strongly suggest you see what all the talk is about. There is always ample food and drink, a variety of entertainment venues, and the ever-popular Jubilee Casino, which this year moves to the Crystal Ballroom. My theme as Chairwoman is member engagement. Members who have the highest satisfaction are those who add to the core offering that brought them here. They engage in things beyond their initial interest, and they find camaraderie and an enhanced sense of belonging. The social events offered at the Club during the holidays add to our member experience and become part of our DNA as members. Whether it's dancing the night away at Jubilee or taking family photos with Santa Claus, this is a time of year to make memories at the Club. I strongly encourage each of you to add the WAC to your holiday plans. You won't be disappointed. And you never know, if you buy a few chances, you may even win the annual Jubilee Grand Prize, a brand new Mercedes. I hope to see you at the party. Best, Remember that on Friday, December 6, only Jubilee attendees and registered Inn guests will be allowed Club entry after 5 pm. Please join the party. 4 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2013
