Teamworks TEAM MEMBER JULY OF THE TERRY RYE MONTH WELLNESS RECEPTIONIST If you've visited the Wellness Center on the 4th Floor recently, there's a good chance you've seen Wellness Receptionist Terry Rye. She has held the position for almost five years, and her warm smile and natural kindness put members at ease. "She's the embodiment of wellness and excellence," Club Programs Event Coordinator Cheryl Simmons says. Terry sets the stage for great experiences at the Wellness Center. In part, it's because she enjoys the work. "I love the atmosphere here," she says. "Everyone is so nice, and it truly feels like a family." AUGUST RICHARD DELGADO 2ND FLOOR COOK Two and a half years ago, Richard Delgado started as a breakfast cook in the 2nd Floor kitchen. He's now the lead line cook for the morning shift and makes the Club's daily soups. "Richard is consistent and professional," Restaurant Operations Manager Ryan Bear says. "He has an excellent attitude and work ethic and goes above and beyond with regards to making sure each plate he creates adheres to Chef Eric's standards." Richard relishes his soupmaking responsibilities—noting that each soup's SEPTEMBER ROY COLEMAN JR. variety of ingredients gives him a chance to satisfy diverse palates—and says his co-workers help make every day a pleasure. "I'm proud of what I do," Richard says. So is Executive Chef Eric Floyd. "His passion for cooking shows in every dish he creates," Eric says. "It's a great pleasure to have him on the WAC culinary team. He's a great team member and a hard-working model employee who is very talented." PERSONAL TRAINER In 1999, Roy Coleman Jr. started working at the WAC as part of the security team. Soon afterward, he moved to Men's Fitness. At the time, he was studying at Western Washington University to be a personal trainer. In 2004, Roy began what has grown into a stellar career as a personal trainer. Through his work, he motivates, inspires and coaches members, helping them reach their fitness goals. Roy says he enjoys watching members transform during their time with him. "It's very rewarding," he says. "There's a nice variety of clientele, and the atmosphere is great." While Roy 18 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2013 Fitness Manager Megan Usui credits Terry for handling a variety of issues with sensitivity, dependability and patience. "Her professionalism, courtesy, and team spirit are outstanding," Megan says. Terry also anticipates the center's needs, offers friendly reminders, and efficiently processes scheduling and paperwork. "She's a top-notch service-provider," Wellness Manager Tamela Thomas says. "She's a self-starter who makes consistent contributions." praises his job, others praise him. "Not only is Roy a great team member, he is an outstanding person," Men's Fitness Manager Bill Munn says. "He leads by example, is always positive, upbeat, and smiling." Fitness Manager Megan Usui adds: "Roy is truly committed to his clients' holistic welfare, including mind, body and spirit. His balance of discipline with a fun and loving personality make it a joy to work with him." Vice President Athletics Wayne Milner agrees: "He lives the WAC values, clients adore him, and he gets results."
