JULY / AUGUST 2021 23 JULY 15 & 22 Sunset E-Ride Spend a summer sunset cruising around Seattle on an e-bike! This guided bike tour highlights Seattle's natural features and maritime history. Our guide will meet us in Ballard, where we'll hop on fat-tire Rad Power Mini bikes. Take in the evening as we travel the Burke-Gilman Trail and pass the Ballard Locks, Fishermen's Terminal, the Fremont Troll, and Gas Works Park. Riders must be 13 years or older and comfortable riding a bike. Includes bike, helmet, and water bottle. Let's gather at Golden Gardens for a beach-side picnic at the WAC's reserved picnic area. Bring your own al fresco eats and beverages to enjoy as we take in a spectacular sunset. Reserve to get event information. 28 A Day of Art, History, and Bainbridge Island Enjoy a ferry ride across Puget Sound and visit the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art for a docent-led tour of the museum's contemporary collection of regional arts and crafts. Then, visit the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial for a powerful docent-led tour of the historic Eagledale Ferry Dock. Lunch waterside at Doc's Marina Grill. Moderate walking. The neighborhood is best known for its transformation from a warehouse district to a global technology boomtown, but it's anything but a pop-up. South Lake Union has deep roots that tell a compelling story of continuity and change. Our 90-minute walking tour highlights the adaptive reuse of former industrial properties, the interplay of high-concept residences, and a surprising amount of affordable housing. Tour is led by Miriam Roskin, a past guide for organizations including MOHAI and Pacific Northwest Historians Guild. Make your own adventure when you take the West Seattle water taxi from Pier 50, just a 20-minute walk from the WAC, to Seacrest Park.
