Allow me to elaborate. Membership Our membership numbers have been under pressure for some years now. The recent recession exacerbated the problem. Our challenge has not been solely a slowing in the rate of new membership additions but also an increase in attrition. So far this year we have turned the tables quite dramatically. Membership & Marketing Vice President Michelle Pinson put together an outstanding game plan for 20122013. It calls for broadening the use of social media to get the word out about the WAC, and it involves Club leadership more heavily in generating new-member referrals. From this past August to October, the first quarter of our current fiscal year, we saw a net increase of 32 members. This bodes well for reaching annual net positive membership, something we havent done since fiscal 19992000. We are now in the midst of our annual Friends & Family promotion. Its our biggest of the year and accounts for a significant portion of our budgeted new member additions. I encourage you to think actively about referring new member candidates to Michelle and her associates. Weddings Until three years ago, weddings were but a small part of our banquet business. At that point, under the supervision of Vice President Food & Beverage Robert Bonina, a decision was made to go after this market more actively. The plan included a remodeling of the Crystal Ballroom. In addition, a more extensive advertising program was initiated, including print media and social media. The results have been impressive. Three years ago we hosted eight weddings at the WAC. This current fiscal year, we will host no fewer than 32. Along with the revenue generated directly by weddings themselves, the Inn, Spa, WAC Parking and restaurants have benefitted. If you have any weddings in your family or friends future, Bo and his team would love to help. Expense reductions Vice President Operations Bill Cohen has taken a proactive approach with many of the services within the Club. During the past several years, there have been extensive reviews of various operations and outside vendors. Changes to laundry, janitorial and security services alone led to annual expense reductions of $156,000. In addition, our energy-efficiency project is expected to further reduce expenses by more than $200,000 a year. This is just a short list of some of our best improvements. Heres to our continued success in 2013.
