SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2017 9 Step into a new experience at Torchy's. Upon arrival, the first thing you'll notice is new flooring, large white tiles with a marble finish that brighten the entry area and offer a more spacious feel. Gone are the white pillars. In their place, a new doorway into "Torchy's Den," the name now given to the space formerly called Lower Torchy's. "is remodel is the first significant change to Torchy's in probably 20 years," WAC Vice President Food & Beverage Peter Christian says. e goal, Peter says, was to bring a more casual feel to Torchy's Den and transform the space into the go-to place for members seeking to work remotely. e den will be open from 7 am until 9 pm on weekdays. Weekend hours are also expected. Another round of Torchy's upgrades will include a fireplace. New metallic wallpaper and a raised ceiling in the foyer already have enhanced the flooring change. "e Club is continuing to evolve its dining spaces to accommodate what members want for working and socializing," Peter says. For the first time in Club history, the WAC will operate a fitness facility out- side the Clubhouse walls. WAC REV will be open to tenants of Madison Centre, a new state-of-the-art high-rise located at the corner of Madison Street and Fih Avenue in downtown. e building is scheduled to open this October. first take torchy's/wellness Leading the way in wellness High-rise partner e WAC's Wellness 360 program won the 2016–2017 Health & Wellness Program of the Year Award at the annual conference of the North American As- sociation of Club Athletic Directors this past June. e event was held in Toronto, and Senior Vice President Wayne Milner was on hand to accept the honor, voted on by a panel of private club athletic directors from around North America.
