46 WAC Magazine | wac.net e 2017 Private Club Membership & Marketing Profession- als' conference included new seating arrangements in the Noble Room, wellness breaks, and a selection of snacks and meals that kept attendees alert, interested and inspired. "We love working with clients on their ideas," Senior Catering Sales Manager Katie Takahashi says. "When people come to a conference, they want to leave feeling like they learned something and had a great time. People are craving interactivity, and we're experimenting with new ways to deliver that." Michelle and her team worked closely with Katie on the PCMP conference, plotting and planning to bring their vision for seminars, brainstorming sessions, and inspirational trips around town to life. e end result was an innovative, in- teractive multiday gathering that le traditional conference concepts on the cutting room floor. "We came to Katie with idea boards and abstract concepts and she jumped right in with suggestions on how to execute our vision," Michelle says. "We accomplished everything that was in my head and more. We achieved great synergy, and ideas came tumbling out of the group in a different way be- cause of how we structured the spaces." Conference attendees raved about the relaxed couch seating in the Noble Room—Michelle hired an outside vendor to move in temporary furniture—and enjoyed wellness-based meals and snacks, guided stretching breaks, and quick access to their hotel rooms and the Club's fitness areas. Inspiration and value "Professionals are constantly looking for something to fuel imagination and ideation," Michelle says. "If they are going to spend precious time in a conference, they want to leave saying, 'You made me think differently.'" A well-planned business meeting or conference sparks conversation, encourages ingenuity, and delivers a sense of communal purpose. "It's about more than bringing people together," Katie says. "It's about providing a place and an experience where inspira- tion is free to roam." WAC members who work with the Catering team also achieve another goal. "When you are charged with planning a meeting or conference, there is that underlying hope that you'll make your company shine by virtue of the conference you create," Michelle says. "It's rewarding to know that every- one le feeling like it was worth it and that you delivered."
