March 26 marked 100 years to the day since the Metropolitans ruled the hockey world. ank you to the Hockey Hall of Fame for the oppor- tunity to share this history. Special Olympics powerlifting e WAC is proud to host a Special Olympics Washington Powerliing event on Saturday, May 13, from 10 am–4 pm on the 4th Floor. For those less familiar with the Club, there exists a great deal of curios- ity and interest about what makes the WAC such a special place. In fact, the most common response we hear aer a membership tour is, "I had no idea this was all here!" e vitality of the membership experience is hard to describe and resides most authentically in recounting personal experiences. It's most impactful when you see it and feel it. And it's very rewarding when you can share it! The mentalist F R O M T H E A R C H I V E S A U T O G R A P H B O O K C O U R T E S Y D A V I D E S K E N A Z I Franz Polgar, the self-proclaimed "Master of Mental Magic," per- formed at the Club on October 6, 1946. A hypnotist who immigrated to the U.S. from Hungary, Polgar was the star of a 15-minute New York television show and toured the country demonstrating the power of the mind through feats of memory, thought transference, and hypno- tism. At the WAC, he showed off his skills for members and their teenage children. Following the performance, Polgar was the guest of honor at a Club supper party.
