6 WAC Magazine | wac.net from the Chairman and President & CEO Seeking member leaders Stacey and I joined the WAC shortly aer moving to Seattle, primarily to access the Club's first-class fitness facilities. While I met a good number of friends during my workout activities, I soon discovered there were additional ways for me to connect with Club members—both socially and professionally. In 2005, I joined one of the Club's leadership committees. Since that time, I have found the member-leader experience to be a fantastic way to socialize with fellow members while also giving back to the Club. Even today, my leadership role is a way to make new friends and catch up with existing ones. e WAC is currently recruiting members to contribute to the leadership of our Club. As you will see by reading outgoing Program Board Chair Maria Finlayson's piece on page 28, our Programs committees are the perfect place to start. More than 200 WAC members comprise 10 committees around the Club. Whether you are looking to get more involved with the WAC, interested in meeting new people, or just want to contribute, I strongly recommend exploring member leadership. If you have any questions about serving, I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Even more information about Club Programs opportunities will appear in the July/August edition of WAC Magazine. Finally, our elevator modernization is well underway. During the next phase, one of our three main high-rise elevators will be taken offline. e reduced capacity will create periods of slower service. Please consider taking the stairs to your destination. Signage in the lobby, the stairwells, and elsewhere around the Club will help you get where you're going with the shortest delay.
