JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2017 | 7 Remembering a new year Time goes so fast. We live in our moments, one at a time, and they stack up, and soon there has been a series of moments and a week has gone by … then a month … then a season. All the while, we are busy living in our current moment and have to stop and look back and ponder where the time went. I say this because somehow it is already 2017. Happy New Year to you! Here's to the year to come. I hope 2016 brought you joy and that 2017 brings even more. January is always a time of reflection, or commitment, or re-commitment—a time of rebirth. For some of us, it's the inevita- ble time to once again turn toward an unachieved promise to ourselves, something that has gone unrealized for too long. is is when we acknowledge that growth and improvement can only come with change. We must also recognize that change is hard, that inertia is the world's most powerful force. But the level of satisfaction in achieving something is directly related to the level of difficulty the challenge presents. And even the longest road is conquered with individual steps, one aer another. I had a friend who was once in a period of life when he had leisure time to spare. When I asked him what he did all day, he re- plied: "I don't know, but it takes me all day to do it!" We all have choices about how we spend our precious, valuable, warp-speed time. Let's choose to spend it creating moments that last, with people we enjoy, doing unique and productive things. So embrace the change, the new, and the first step. Peruse the pages of this newly redesigned WAC Magazine with the intent to find activities and events that make your life better. at way, when you look back at 2017, you'll see a year full of accomplish- ments and moments to remember. @cnhuskies13 Chuck Nelson President & CEO cnelson@wac.net WAC® MAGAZINE January / February 2017 Volume 36, Number 1 ISSN 1091-7985 Washington Athletic Club ® 1325 Sixth Ave. Seattle, WA 98101 206.622.7900 / fax 206.464.3058 www.wac.net / magazine@wac.net 206.464.4631 / fax 206.464.1392 Subscription: $18 / Single copies: $3 Published bimonthly, plus holiday issue.
