His work has been shown internationally and is now in the permanent collection at the Tacoma Art Museum, Frye Art Museum, and the King County Public Art Collection. Join us at Glass Box Gallery, just south of the International District, for an artist's talk and dinner. Soldi will discuss his exhibit, Life Stand Still Here. An abstract exploration of the moments when life becomes symbolic and stands still, Soldi's work uses a conceptual approach—rather than a narrative or representational one. The pieces in this exhibit stem from photography and include construction and arrangements made from altered photographs, digital creations, and sculpture. This special evening includes wine, salad and paella. Social begins at 6 pm, followed by speaker at 6:30 pm; $42; cancel by June 20 N E W Make Tom Douglas' Triple Coconut Cream Pie at Hot Stove Society Friday, August 12 A favorite at Dahlia Lounge and Lola, Tom Douglas' triple coconut cream pie N E W 9th Annual Scavenger Hunt on Lake Union Friday, July 22 Our yearly scavenger hunt has become a WAC favorite, and each year the rivalry increases. Select someone to captain your 10-person electric Duffy boat and head out onto the water for a friendly two-hour competition. Race around Lake Union and use a list of challenging clues to identify items visible from the water. The first boat to return with the most correct answers wins a prize. Each year the scavenger hunt has a new mix of clues so everyone has a fair shot. Trays of food, bottled water, and soft drinks are included onboard. You can also bring your own music, beer, wine, and food to help spark your creative thinking. Put together a team of 10 or we'll partner you at the dock. Remember—it's not about winning or losing—it's about having fun! This popular WAC tradition is perfect for singles, couples or groups. 6–9 pm; $68; cancel by July 11 R O B E R T L A U R E N T D A N B U S TA 36 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | MAY / JUNE 2016 CLUB PROGRAMS 206.464.3060 • clubprograms@wac.net • wac.net/club-events
