From Resolution to REALITY For many people, a new year brings hopes of turning over a new leaf. Whether you'd like to get back in shape or amp up your fitness routine, the Club's experts can help. Here, WAC Nutritionist Shana Hopkins and WAC Fitness Programs Manager George Sommerrock offer tips to help you make your wellness goals a reality—in 2015 and beyond. Q: What advice do you have for members seeking to take charge of their health and fitness for the first time or after sitting it out for a while? A: Shana Hopkins: Don't get overwhelmed. If someone has 50 pounds to lose, it can be daunting to think about the task at hand. In terms of nutrition, just take it one meal at a time. And seek support and accountability from someone you trust. George Sommerrock: On the fitness side of things, start with some self-reflection to gauge your best first step. For some people, just setting up a meeting with a trainer is an important step. For others, it might be picking a fitness class to take. In that case, yoga classes are a great starting point.
