JANUARY 2015 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | 21 B rittany Buselmeier was working as a barista in Tacoma when she met Greg Rock, a city police officer. "He was the cute cop," Brittany says now, smiling. Greg quickly became one of Brittany's regulars. Flirtations followed and, eventually, romance. When the couple weds later this month, they'll celebrate with close to 200 guests in the WAC's Crystal Ballroom. Brittany and Greg are one of nearly two dozen couples whose wedding receptions will be held at the WAC this year. "Ours is a winter wedding, and we thought the WAC was a really good indoor venue for that," Brittany says. "The chandeliers go well with the winter setting." In fact, the ballroom and its namesake Czechoslovakian crystal are one of the many reasons brides choose the WAC for their big day. "We offer the whole package," WAC Director Catering Sales Rick Cardona says. The WAC's service and food also set the Club apart. Event and catering managers Rebekah King and Renee Brussard offer customized assistance and work directly with brides or wedding planners to tailor each event to meet couples' exact desires and fulfill lifelong wedding dreams. Rebekah and Renee invite couples who have booked their wedding to visit the Crystal Ballroom for group tastings that set the table with food, drink, music, and service. The mini-receptions offer a glimpse of what's to come on their big day and give couples a relaxed and pressure-free opportunity to taste and select from the Club's many banquet offerings, right down to dessert. "We set the tastings up like a mini- wedding," Rebekah says. "It's a nice little experience. We like to tell people to come down to the Club and enjoy their afternoon, maybe even make an evening of it. The couples love it." The WAC's Renee Brussard and Rebekah King Brittany Buselmeier
