Hoffman's story of the Nutcracker is kept alive during Christmastime by hundreds of ballet companies every year. Pacific Northwest Ballet's production is one of the most celebrated. Reimagined in 1983 by Kent Stowell, founding artistic director of Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the late Maurice Sendak, children's author and illustrator, the storybook comes alive on stage. There's something for everyone: action and adventure as soldiers come to life and go to battle with swords; tutus and pirouetting by graceful ballerinas. The sets and costuming by Sendak infuse the story with drama and enchantment, while Stowell's lively choreography make this an unforgettable performance. The WAC's premium tickets are located on the main floor for opening-weekend festivities, including costumed Nutcracker characters, strolling carolers, and crafts for children. True joy awaits behind the curtains. Let the holiday magic begin! 2 pm; $102, $55 Seattle Men's Chorus: Play It Again, Santa with special guest Levi Kreis at Benaroya Hall Sunday, December 1 What do you get when you mix the energy of the Seattle Men's Chorus with the electrifying sound of Tony Award–winning Levi Kreis?
