We all know the old saying: Everything
is bigger in Texas. But it's not just wide-
open cattle country. Consider this. e
Lone Star State has three of the 10 big-
gest cities in the U.S., including Dallas.
Founded in 1841, Dallas' rich history
provides no shortage of sightseeing, and
the downtown city center is the perfect
place to start. Here you'll find Pioneer
Plaza, where longhorn oxen—frozen
in bronze—roam free. Other popular
sights nearby include the Dallas Muse-
um of Art and e Sixth Floor Museum
at Dealey Plaza. Located in the former
Texas School Book Depository, the mu-
seum tells the story of former President
John F. Kennedy's assassination.
Shoppers won't want to miss Main
Street District, dotted with stores and
restaurants and anchored by the famous
Giant Eyeball statue. It's a photo-op all
first-time visitors to the Big D need.
Get beyond the city core and you'll find
the Dallas Zoo and the George W. Bush
Presidential Center.
A short drive to Dallas' metroplex
neighbor, Fort Worth, brings even more
to see and do. Take a trip to the Wild,
Wild West at the Fort Worth Stock-
yards, a National Historic District with
brick walkways, wooden corrals, and
twice-daily cattle drives. Or dive deep
into Southwestern culture at Sundance
Square Plaza, the Amon Carter Muse-
um of American Art, or the Kimbell Art
Museum. Time your visit with the 2023
Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, set for
January 13–February 4, for a full-im-
mersion experience.
Wherever you go during your next
trip to Texas, go big!
