Founded in 1861, Napa Valley's oldest winery has since achieved icon status. Purchased by the Mondavi family in 1943, the winery produces some of Northern California's best vintages. Take a walk through the vineyards and deep into the cellars of this world-class winery—all without leaving the WAC— at our fall winemaker dinner. Charles Krug Winery Co-Proprietor Peter Mondavi Jr., grandson of Napa Valley pioneers Rosa and Cesare Mondavi, will join us on Friday, October 28, for a four-course dinner and wine tasting in the Crystal Ballroom. "Peter is one of the most affable and approachable winery owners I have met," WAC Vice President of Food & Beverage Peter Christian says. "He has great respect for the history of Charles Krug Winery and what it means to not only his family but wine-lovers in general." e Mondavis acquired Charles Krug Winery when Peter Mondavi Jr.'s grandparents purchased it in 1943. Peter's father, Peter Mondavi Sr., was also a well-known winemaker. Together, Peter Mondavi Sr. and his brother, Robert, grew Charles Krug into one of the most prolific wineries in the region, helping establish the worldwide reputation of the Napa Valley. Robert le the winery in 1966 and Peter Mondavi Sr. died in 2016. Today, under Peter Mondavi Jr., Charles Krug remains a family-run icon. Charles Krug's Generations is a Bordeaux-style blend created to honor the winery's pedigree and legacy. The fruit used to create Generations is night-picked from Charles Krug's estate vineyards and aged in new French oak barrels for a distinct flavor.
