Tony started as a busboy at just 16 years old after moving to the U.S. from the Philippines. "The WAC has been my one and only 40 YEARS The WAC recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. We couldn't have done that without all the wonderful team members who help the Club run. Now it's time to recognize them! Here are some team members who have been around the WAC for quite some time and recently marked milestone anniversaries. Eric Floyd Executive Chef Eric Floyd first fired up the WAC flattops as a lead line cook. Since then he has seared, scrambled, and sautéed his way through saucier, sous chef, and chef de cuisine before becoming Executive Chef in 2010. From intimate wine dinners to serving 900 Jubilee partygoers, Eric is a craftsman in the kitchen. During his tenure at the Club, he has given back to the Seat- tle community as a volunteer cook at FareStart, a local charity that helps those in need gain employment in the food service industry. "The WAC is a truly special place," he says. "I've learned so much throughout my many years here." Darin Barr If you engage in the "Athletic" part of the Washington Athletic Club, you're likely to run into Darin Barr. As Athletic Programs Manager, Darin organizes sports programming from the court to the course. Most recently, he's taken a deep dive into the world of aquatics by adding supervision of Helene Madison Pool to his quiver. "Sports have always been my passion," he says. Darin co- ordinates events, recreational leagues, and a variety of tournaments. In his free time, he referees community college and high school basketball around Puget Sound. In 2020, he refereed the state 4A championship game. Al Frigillana Next time you dry off with a fluffy towel, slip into crisp Inn sheets, or wrap yourself in a Spa at the WAC robe, thank Laundry Attendant Al Frigillana. Al spends his workdays surrounded by an expanse of freshly laundered whites, whirring washers, and big blue folding machines. "Laundry is pretty straight- forward—wash, dry, fold," he says. Al is well familiar with the Club's laundry equipment and says the WAC has provided him with employment stability through the years. "To me, the WAC means good job security," he says. In his spare time, Al enjoys riding his bike and playing video games. employer," Tony says. He has held many roles around the Club and currently supports the Accounting and IT departments.
