Spring has had extra importance for me since graduating college and becoming an accountant who specializes in taxes. Aer April 15, I leave long days at the office behind and spend my newfound time striving to enjoy everything Seattle has to offer. Each year, the WAC ritual that parallels the arrival of longer days and warmer weather is our budgeting and planning process. e work by the executive team and member leaders over the winter comes full circle. In March, the Board of Governors approved the updated Five-Year Strategic Plan. e 2019–2020 Operating Plan & Budget, which will cover the Club's 90th year, will be presented to the Board for approval in May. As part of the planning process, your leadership team and the respective departments strive not only to keep the Club current but also forward-looking and innovative. Replacing fitness equipment, upgrading dining spaces, remodeling hotel rooms, bolstering member leadership … all of this and much more is an integral part of the planning process. In addition to the planning that happens at the executive level, the Program Board is full of individuals who spend every year developing and putting on events for members and their guests. Many of the members volunteering on the Program Board's event-planning committees are just starting their leadership experience at the Club, and you can join them (see page 31). No matter how you and your family celebrate the warmer weather and longer days, I encourage you to see how the WAC can take you somewhere you haven't been before. All the best!
