10 WAC Magazine | wac.net Morris Trophy a UW sweep Congratulations to the University of Washington and Greg Gaines and Kaleb McGary for sweeping this year's Morris Trophy awards. It is the fih time in the award's 39-year history that the winners have come from the same school. Wash- ington also swept the award in 1991. e winners were announced in December and will be awarded during a luncheon at noon on ursday, January 17, in the Crystal Ballroom. e Morris Trophy is given annually to the best offensive lineman and the best defensive lineman in the Pac-12. Players from the opposing side of the line around the league vote on each year's winners. Gaines won on the defensive side and McGary on the offensive side. ere's still time to grab a seat to this year's luncheon, the premier college football awards event in the Northwest. is year's keynote speaker will be former Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril. "We're thrilled to book another great speaker for this event," says Wayne Milner, WAC Senior Vice President Athletics, Special Projects & Community Partners. As home of the Morris Trophy, the WAC annually hosts the awards cere- mony, which attracts a long list of local football stars. Congratulations to WAC member Michael Isley on winning the Jubilee 89 grand prize, a 2018 Jaguar XE 25t Premium AWD. Michael is a member of the 20s/30s com- mittee and joined the WAC in 2012. Knockout laughs The Main Event combines comedy and collegiate boxing Comedians Chris Distefano and Brad Upton will bring the laughs to this year's Main Event. e two-night spectacular, highlighted by some of the best colle- giate boxing in the country, takes place Friday and Saturday, January 25–26, in the WAC Clubhouse. Start with dinner and comedy in the Crystal Ballroom before proceeding to the 8th Floor gym for the fights. is black-tie affair sold out just before press time.
