New-look 5th Floor opens
Barbershop and strength studio highlight Clubhouse upgrade
Welcome to the 5th Floor, new home of the WAC Barbershop and a strength studio
designed for serious weightliing. e first phase of the Project 51 capital improve-
ment project wrapped up in December. It included a new elevator landing and
entrance to Men's Fitness as well as a new barbershop, relocated from the lobby level.
"We're very excited about the completion of the first phase of Project 51," says
Wayne Milner, Senior Vice President Athletics, Special Projects & Community Part-
ners. "Having a premier barbershop in close proximity to Men's Fitness makes great
sense and opens up space on the lobby level of the Club for future improvements."
e second phase of Project 51 will focus on the 1st Floor. e plan calls for
moving Club Shop retail sales to the space vacated by the barbershop and building
a small-business center with adjacent coffee shop in the current Club Shop location.
A start date for the second phase of the project could be determined as early as
this spring.

Platinum Clubs are judged based on
their amenities and facilities, staff and
service, quality of membership, gover-
nance and fiscal management, and over-
all experience. e awards divide clubs
into various categories. Only 20 athletic
clubs nationally were honored. Within
that list, the WAC was ranked in the top
five along with the Detroit Athletic Club,
New York Athletic Club, Multnomah
Athletic Club, and Olympic Club.
"at is fine company," Chuck said. "It
means a lot to us, and it says a lot
about our membership."
The Barbershop at the WAC, seen in this concept rendering, has a new look and a new location,
on the 5th Floor. Men and women may use the space. For appointments, call 206.464.3097.
