ere are many ways to define integ-
rity, but the way that elite runners and
authors Lauren Fleshman and Roisin
McGettigan-Dumas describe it in their
Compete Training Journal is that you
do what you say you're going to do.
If you set a goal for yourself, you
go aer that goal. You hold yourself
accountable. It means that you race with
integrity, you train with integrity, and
you recover with integrity. You look at
the bigger picture of your goals, and
then each workout takes on greater
significance. Each day is a chance to
do what you set out to do.
Before you can go aer big goals, you
first must set goals that are achievable
and will stretch your limits. Winter is
the perfect time to write down some
goals and set your intention for the year
ahead.
As you consider creating your own
goals, think about a mix of outcome
goals, performance goals, and process
goals.
