For starters, it means being among the very best private clubs in the country. "is is a great honor and a great testament to our club and our membership," WAC President & CEO Chuck Nelson said aer the Club won its ninth consecutive Platinum Award. e latest awards were announced this past November. Only the top five percent of private clubs nationwide earn Platinum status. e awards are voted on by Club Management Association of America managers as well as club presidents and owners. "e Washington Athletic Club, its members, board, management, and staff should be justly proud of Platinum rec- ognition and have set a benchmark for other clubs to emulate," said Dennis Burns, executive director of the awards. e Platinum awards, introduced in 1997, were initially delivered once every three years and are now biennial. e WAC has won every time the awards have been given. "To sustain the excellence required to consistently win Platinum Club recog- nition is a testament to the Club and the membership's commitment to contin- ually evolve and improve the facility, offerings, and service levels of the WAC," Chuck said.
