What does a typical day look like for you? I travel a lot for clients and team meetings, so when I'm home I cherish mornings with our three daughters. Sharing my excitement to see each of them as they come down the stairs is priceless and, I'm aware, fleeting. Once they are at school, I try to sneak in a run around Green Lake or a workout at the WAC. My critical thinking is best when I am moving my body. I enjoy coming into our office downtown. Each day is usually some combination of client meetings; planning and creativity; colleague development, coaching, and investment; and prob- lem-solving across each of these contexts. Depending on the day, I may leave for a child's sports practice or game or stay late in the empty office for some extra focus time and to catch up in the quiet of 5–7 pm and let traffic die down. What accomplishments are you most proud of? Being a good parent is my most important role. I am proud to maneuver that while leading an amazing team. I hope to create space and possibilities for others to do the same or similar in whatever form their family or life outside work takes. I am also proudest of seeing colleagues successful in their efforts to grow, have impact, and achieve personal and profes- sional fulfillment. For me, it is always about the team. Making bedtime when I am not traveling is also very important to me. I am also incredibly lucky to have a partner and a nanny who divide and conquer the girls' schedules with me. In between games, practices, and work events, my husband, Grant, and I try to have dinner together at home at least once or twice a week. How did you come to Seattle and how did you first hear about the WAC? We came to Seattle because we thought it would be a great place to raise our family. Luckily, it was 2017 and not 2020! We had good professional opportunities here. e combination of great sports, music, and outdoors has been an amazing fit for us. We first heard about the WAC because Grant was recruited to be a member of the WAC men's soccer team. How do you most frequently use the WAC? To work out. I also host client and company events. And we do kids swim lessons on the weekends. I love taking a colleague or candidate to Hagerty's for lunch—it's an easy spot and feels like home. We also had our youngest daughter at WeeWACs for a few years. e staff is stellar! Jen Nishio Pacific Northwest Health Solutions Practice Leader Member since 2018 club life 4 under 40
