26 WAC Magazine | wac.net living fit hydrate for health / better water Drink up! Stay hydrated for health down to the bone By Eric Chen, WAC Nutritionist Human beings are more than half water. Even our bones have water in them! So it makes sense that we need the cool clear stuff to stay happy and healthy—especially during summer's hot months. I recommend a simple equation for adults: Multiply your body weight in pounds by 0.75. Take that number and replace the word "pounds" with "ounces." For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should be drinking 120 ounces of water daily. Stay on top of your water intake by packing a bottle with you everywhere, and schedule water breaks every 20 minutes during strenuous activity. If you want more than just plain old H 2 O, try infusing your water with fruits and vegetables, or stop by the WAC Café on the 8th Floor for a cup full of sliced berries and veggies. Refill it throughout your day to stay hydrated with a twist. ink water is boring? Add bubbles. I love La Croix— also available in the WAC Café—but any sugar-free sparkling water will work. For kids, a fun straw or a fruit smoothie can be good motivators to drink more liquids. One drop at a time Flavor your water a new way. Pure Inventions water- enhancing drops—offered at the Spa at the WAC and in the WAC Wellness Center—let you customize your water with great taste and a host of health benefits. Choose from electrolyte-rich coconut, metabolism-boosting green tea, immune-supporting cranberry, and more. Swing by the 4th Floor and give them a try.
