Hawkins led Lindenwood University to the USA Rugby Di- vision I Elite national championship this spring. The WAC is the home of the collegiate rugby player of the year awards. This year's ceremony was held on Saturday, June 9, in the Crystal Ballroom. Also attending the ceremony were the Honoring rugby's best L I N D S E Y W A S S O N ( 3 ) parents of U.S. Naval Academy's Connor McNerney, the recipient of the Rudy Scholz Award as the country's best men's player. Navy reached the national quarterfinals this season. Tara Flanagan, a member of Team USA's World Cup–winning squad in 1991 and a superior court judge in Alameda County, California, was the keynote speaker at the awards ceremony. Phillip Bach's three-pointer with three seconds to play lifted the WAC's A Division team to a national championship at the NACAD tourna- ment in Las Vegas in April. The WAC beat New York Athletic Club 83-80.
