WELLNESS PROGRAMS 4th Floor Wellness Center • 206.839.4780 • www.wac.net/wellness-center Vitamin B12 Shots Feeling fatigued? Not sleeping well? Stressed? Noticing symptoms of irritability, lack of drive, reduced exercise capacity, fuzzy thinking, or tingling in your hands or feet? Vitamin B12 deficiency or suboptimal levels of B12 can cause all these symptoms. Regular use of heartburn medications, certain anti-diabetics, antibiotics, excessive coffee intake and vegetarian diets can exac- erbate vitamin B12 deficiency, as can the aging process. Moreover, for anyone taking antidepressants, researchers have found better results when such medications are taken concurrent with vitamin B12 shots. Vitamin B12 plays an important role in protecting us from heart disease, supports healthy circulation, immune function, red blood cell production, mood regulation, memory, concentration and mental clarity. B12 shots are offered through the Wellness Center. Appointments are recommended, though walk-ins can be accommodated. It also relieves stress and improves performance in pro- fessional and daily activities. Rolfing practitioner Sara Bayer uses mild, direct pressure to release holdings of fascia—the body's internal system of flexible sup- port that surrounds every muscle fiber, encases all joints and has a role in the nervous system. The slow, deep strokes stimulate sensory neurons of the muscle nerve, triggering the nervous system to reduce tension. Thus, the body finds health through the re-establishment of balance. Studies show that Rolfing engen- ders more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy and creates more-refined patterns of movement. Rolfing significantly improves align- ment and enhances neurological function.
