T Written by Michelle Goodman • Photography by Luke Rutan CELEBRATING MILESTONES he WAC's most highly anticipated event arrives on Friday, November 30. Once again, members and guests will shine in their finest gowns and tuxes as the annual celebration takes over the Club. But Jubilee isn't just about decadent food and jovial toasts. Nor is it only about dancing, gambling and sipping the night away. "Jubilee is so much more than a party," says Melissa Borders, Vice President Club Programs. "It marks the founding of the WAC. It takes us all back but carries us all forward. And it gives new members a piece of the Club's 83-year history." For Nicole Both, Jubilee is also an opportunity to celebrate friendships forged at the Club during the past year. For Brian Bumpers, who proposed to fiancee Nicole Ancich at his second Jubilee last year, it's the start of what promises to be a lifelong tradition. For Patricia and Ted Scoville, who met as Jubilee casino dealers two decades ago, the WAC's anniversary celebration is also a commemoration of their 16-year marriage. "Jubilee embodies the WAC," Melissa says. "It takes place during the holiday season, but it's really about celebrating the Club's anniversary and everything we stand for." Members who flock to the Club in cummerbunds and updos each Jubilee say they're drawn back by the sense of community and the power of tradition.
