WAC Nutritionist Eric Chen will discuss life-giving foods and the positive impacts they can have on your body and soul. e series continues with sessions on exercise and yoga and meditation. living fit instructor insights / cancer series / pumpkin swim Born and raised in Seattle, Frank Yanagimachi ran cross-coun- try for Rainier Beach High School and competed in 10K races and marathons aer graduating. His love for running translat- ed well to the 27 years Frank spent in the Air Force Reserves, where physical fitness was an essential component of everyday life. Frank served during the First Gulf War and had a long civilian career at the Seattle Department of Transportation and Sound Transit. His interest in fitness later blossomed as a group exercise instructor and registered yoga teacher. Frank was introduced to the WAC as a substitute teacher for morning step classes. "I never thought my lack of rhythm and two le feet could be overcome," he says. "But aer attending step choreography workshops and getting a feel for the right music, I found a new passion!" In addition to group exercise instruction, Frank has exten- sive training in therapeutic and restorative yoga, including working with recovering cancer patients. Now semi-retired, Frank teaches weekly yoga at the WAC as well as a ursday step class.
